Mais pas d’arbre à cames performant ou de ressorts à double soupape, vous avez raison!

for my engine i order to H and H flatheads . and also reid's rod parts .you can follow engine modifications on the HAMB forum .

This is probably not that interesting but wanted to mention it. A month ago, batteries on the Comète were dead. It seems turning the ignition off, does not cut off power to everything and there must be a leak somewhere. In my other cars, I always have a hard battery cut-off switch and all goes well. I had not yet installed one on the Comète.

In any case, as a short term measure, I installed this tiny 6V lithium motorcycle battery (I believe the only 6V lithium vehicle battery made). So far so good! It starts the engine without a problem, seems to charge well (I think it has protection circuits inside). Best part — it weighs half a kilo.

Ce n’est probablement pas très intéressant, mais je voulais le mentionner. Il y a un mois, les batteries de la Comète étaient mortes. Il semble que couper le contact, ne coupe pas l’alimentation partout et il doit y avoir une fuite quelque part. Dans mes autres voitures, j’ai toujours un coupe batterie et tout se passe bien. Je n’en avais pas encore installé sur la Comète.

En tout cas, à court terme, j’ai installé cette minuscule batterie de moto au lithium 6V (je crois que c’est la seule batterie de véhicule au lithium 6V fabriquée). Pour l’instant ça va! Elle démarre le moteur sans problème, semble bien charger (je pense qu’il a des circuits de protection à l’intérieur). La meilleure: il pèse un demi-kilo.

Also, what other vehicle may use that lower differential ratio other than the Vendôme? Simca Chambord?

The differential ratio on the Vedette 55 to 61 is 3.9, but the rear axle is not identical to the Comète.

Hi, I noticed that the rear axles on the Comètes, Vedettes, Vendômes look identical to ones on US Fords of the 40s. If that is the case, I can change the rearend ratio simply with this:

Many French Ford parts are similar to US Ford parts, but there might be some slight changes.
The only way to be sure would be to disassemble your Comète rear axle and compare it to the US one.

So, we bought this. Not crazy expensive. I will report how it works out.

De nombreuses pièces Ford françaises sont similaires aux pièces Ford américaines, mais il pourrait y avoir de légers changements.
La seule façon d’en être sûr serait de démonter votre essieu arrière Comète et de le comparer à celui des États-Unis.
