Bonjour a toutes, hello everybody, and thanks to the friendly & patient guys from CVF at Reims in march.
As my new owner "ne parle pas francais", I have to communicate in english.
My name is LaVerdette, I am a ´58 Chambord vert/vert. Last year I moved from France to Bavaria, leaving a big blue cloud behind me all the way for 750 kilometres...
The last three month I got a complete "moteur reconditionné", which was not the first in my life. Now I am just starting my "troisième printemps".

In October I made a trip to the North sea, about 950 km one way, with LaVerdette, ma Chambord.
It was a journey with more of these HIGHS and LOWS one can imagine...

The true reason for the final breakdown...never seen anything like this before!

I´m not sure, whether its a question of the wrong oil. Anyone any idea?

Hi Michael, it seems that your oil pump pinion has lost all its teeth on the way to the North Sea !!!
Anyway, good to know that your car is running again...
Hard to believe that a wrong type of oil can cause such dammage. Oil pump celoron pinion gets sometimes dammaged with time, even if you are using NOS parts.
Some mechanics recommend to leave the celoron pinion in an oil bath before assembly on the oil pump.
I always wonder why Simca didn't used aluminium pinions instead of celeron...
It seems that you found a good and actual replacement part to solve this issue.

Hi Fred,
Yes! Thank god I stopped LaVerdette right in time before the engine failed!
Luckily the red oil lamp went on, probably because the oil pressure went down?
And luckily I watched the oil lamp in the right moment!

I bought the pignon at techni-tacot.com.
May be not the cheapest one, but still my favorite adress, as they had delivered me all the things I needed for my motor reconditionning in 2014.

Driving the Chambord is great!
